Our summer fitness programme started with a bang this week! Every day all the children and staff have begun their day  with a fun and energetic routine set to music out on the playground. Each week we will be learning a new routine aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles. All the staff have remarked how well the children are responding in their lessons following the routine and everyone seems to thoroughly enjoy it.

As well as their morning activity, the children are also taking part in a summer challenge competing against themselves – aiming to improve their fitness level over the next few weeks.

Some of our year 3 girls competed in the next round of the cross country at Cheslyn Hay and did an absolutely fantastic job –  they should all be very proud of themselves. Tonight, our football team are participating in the small school’s football competition at Corbett and we wish them the very best of luck. We have more sporting activities next week – our year 3 & 4 cricket team are taking part in the finals at Beacon CC on Wednesday and the Y5/6 rounders competition is on Thursday afternoon at St John’s Primary School.

Further sporting events include the small school’s sports day, the swimming gala and our own sports day. There will be more information sent out to parents about these events over the next few weeks.

On Friday 22nd June we are holding another Race for Life event on Trysull playing fields. We will bring the children over the field for a start at 9.30 am. Nursery and Reception children are being asked to complete one lap of the field, whilst the rest of the children will have a go at completing the 5K whether they run, jog, walk or skip! We are hoping the morning will be a huge success and raise lots of money for this very worthwhile cause.

The PTFA are helping out on the day and there will be refreshments available. We hope to see as many of you there as possible (you can also participate in the race if you want to.)

Our next PTFA meeting is next week and we’ll be discussing Race for Life in more detail as well as finalising details for our summer fair.

Wishing you a warm and sunny weekend.
