Some of our KS2 children took part in this year’s small school’s swimming gala on Wednesday afternoon. The children were a real credit to the school and we were delighted to return with the winners trophy again. Well done to all the  children who took part.

Congratulations to our year 6 children who finally received their SATS results. We are very proud of all your achievements and hope you all thoroughly enjoy your last week with us at All Saints.’

Our disco last night was very well attended – thank you to the PTFA for purchasing the refreshments. For those of you who didn’t come along last night, you may be wondering what has happened to the largest tree on the orchard. A huge part of it fell down last night, thankfully not injuring anyone. Apparently the whole tree was rotten, which is so surprising as it was laden with fruit. A huge thank you to  Maddox’s mum and dad for coming to the rescue. The orchard will be out of bounds for the children to play on until I can guarantee their safety. We are having the rest of the trees inspected over the weekend and I’ll keep you posted.

Tomorrow is the Trysull village fair and there are will be a range of stalls including tombola, produce, plants, bric-a-brac, handbags, photo treasure hunt and a silent auction. Activities such as a bouncy castle, face painting, hook-a-duck, coconut shy and skittles. A burger bar and afternoon tea and cakes as well as entertainment for the whole family. The fair starts at 12 noon and finishes at 4 pm.

On Monday our year 6 children are being taken out for tea by the staff as an end of term treat.

Our summer Fair is on Wednesday and we hope to see as many of you there as possible. The theme is the ‘world cup’ and although we were all disappointed not to have made it through to the finals this Sunday, I think everyone is very proud of how well the England team played throughout the tournament.

On Thursday, the children will be enjoying a picnic lunch before our annual talent show in the afternoon.

Our final day on Friday will be quite an emotional day as we not only say goodbye to our year 6 children but also to two members of staff who have been at All Saints’ for many years and have made a real difference to everyone here. I hope that both Mrs Beard and Mrs Lunn thoroughly enjoy their final week. We are holding a special assembly on Friday morning and of course our leavers’ service will be held in church at 2 pm.

Have a lovely weekend,

Jane Woodall.
