The children recently brought home a Church of England Children’s Society candle-shaped collection box for them to fill with spare change to contribute to the work of the charity with vulnerable children and young people. The money you collect will mean children who need care, security and support can look forward to Christmas. A reminder that the collection box is required to be returned to school by Monday 2nd December 2019. Your support with this is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you to everyone who purchased a poppy this year. We raised £137.93 for the Royal British Legion.
It was lovely to see so many of you at the reading workshop on Monday. We hope you all enjoyed it and learnt more about how we teach reading in school. Thank you to so many of you who have put your name down to be a ‘secret reader!’ You should have received letters asking for your availability as we are keen to get this started as soon as possible – we know the children will absolutely love it.
Today, we met as house groups and started our new reading buddies scheme. All the children enjoyed reading to each other and we are going to make this a regular event as well as our DEAR—Drop Everything And Read!
Huge congratulations to our football team who got to play at St George’s Park on Wednesday afternoon in the next round of the small school’s competition. They played brilliantly and came third overall. Well done to all the team. Also, huge thanks to their coach, Mr Cleaver and to all the parents and carers who went along to support the team.
Four of our children from Oak Class went to St Bart’s this week to take part in the MAT geography quiz. They worked really well as a team and gave some super answers. They came third overall – a great achievement.
As next week is the start of December, we will be starting our Christmas events and activities. Chestnut and Beech Class are off to meet Santa on Tuesday and we have our first non-uniform day next Friday (please bring in bottles for the tombola and sweets).
Have a lovely weekend
